Today was an impromptu trip to the Phoenix area.

When we purchased our new motorhome in 2021 we knew that the mattress that came with the unit would be short-lived. While we used it all last summer and found the mattress fairly comfortable we thought that we could get another few months out of it on this trip. However last night it caught up with us and both of us woke up with sore hips from the sagging mattress. It had reached the end of its comfortable stage - typical RV crap.

We discussed the situation and agreed that we needed something better to sleep on if we were going to continue our trip. Our first thought would be to get a mattress topper from Costco, and after a little research decided to make the trip to Surprise AZ on the outskirts of Phoenix where we found the closest Costco to our location. Our route was south from Bouse, past Vicksburg on highway 72, connecting to I-10 and then east past Tonopah to Highway 303 and then north to Surprise. We picked up a mattress topper at Costco and also checked out a couple of mattress stores in the area for some alternatives.

Our decision for now is to try out the mattress topper and see if that will provide us a comfortable sleep for the next couple of months until we get home. At that time will be able to source a new mattress from a local manufacturer. It was a rather long day and lengthy drive there and back but was a necessary trip to hopefully solve our problem.
